PQCNC Family Members – Leaders for Quality and Safety

PQCNC is so proud to have had two of its members, Greg Cohoon and Julie Coates (pictured here with Tanya Lord, AHA Patient Engagement Consultant) attend the Symposium for Leaders in Healthcare Quality’s (SLHQ) 2nd Annual Quality and Safety Roadmap Meeting and the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Leadership Summit. Here’s what they had to say about their experience…

“The AHA SLHQ Summit was an incredible experience. I learned about the importance of patient and family engagement to improve the overall outcome in medicine and heard many great ideas about how to create and improve Patient and Family Advocacy Councils within healthcare systems. Perhaps most importantly, I made many connections with people all over the country with whom I will continue to maintain contact and share ideas that will be helpful in all of our individual contexts.” – Greg Cohoon, Family Support Network of Central Carolina (FSNCC)

“I was so fortunate to have been able to attend the AHA Summit and SLHQ Roadmap.  I am grateful that Tara and PQCNC presented this opportunity to us.  I was able to meet and learn from many of the national leaders in the area of PFE.  The content of the SLHQ meeting was focused on using PFE to improve quality and safety across the board, and specific strategies were presented by hospital systems across the nation.  The Summit was a great learning opportunity as well, and this was the first time that patient/family advisors have been included in this event geared towards hospital executives.  The theme of partnering with patients was present throughout the content presented and it was truly an inspiring weekend!” – Julie Coates, Duke Regional
