We need you to join the Antibiotic Stewardship / Newborn Sepsis Expert team!
Given the green light to move forward with and Antibiotic Stewardship/Newborn Sepsis Initiative (ASNS), we are requesting volunteers to join the ASNS Expert Team. This Expert Team will consider executing an antibiotic stewardship project, including consideration of sepsis evaluation and treatment in the newborn nursery and NICU. Membership requires an interest, willingness to read background material and attend webinars/meetings held to develop an action plan for execution of this initiative. Nurses, parents, family members, pharmacists, physicians, administrators, policy officials, lactation staff, nutrition staff, case managers, infection control staff, unit clerks, housekeeping and other ancillary support in the care of these babies and their families are all welcome as members. We anticipate 2-3 meetings to develop a 1-2 page action plan with supporting documents over the next 3 months.
It is likely that the initial Expert Team may decide that separate Nursery and NICU action plans are required but we will begin this process as a combined group.
