Regrouping after our October learning sessions teams completed an inventory to better assess what types of services, protocols, and practices their hospital currently has in place. The results helped us to collectively tighten our focus Over the next few months we will focus our attention as a collaborative on specific process measures for improvements:
- Increasing Skin-to-Skin
- Supporting Pump Use
- Improving Breastfeeding support
- Establishing milk supply
At the request of teams we've also changed the enrollment of patients in the NCCC Exclusive Breast Milk Initiative. To allow smaller units to join the initiative the inclusion criteria of <1500 grams will no longer apply. The larger units may still only submit data for the <1500 gram patients or include all as best fits the capabilities and goals of their particular units.
