Elliot Main to speak at PQCNC 2014 Annual Meeting

Elliott Main, MD, is the Director of the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC).   He has authored two national Maternity Quality Toolkits:  Improving Response to Obstetric Hemorrhage and Elimination of Elective Deliveries Under 39 weeks (Co-sponsored with the March of Dimes). In addition, Dr. Main chairs the first-ever California Pregnancy-associated Mortality Review Committee.

 

From 1998 to this year, he was the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. That department, with over 100 private-practice Ob/GYN's and over 6,000 annual births is one of the largest in the US. 

Dr. Main has been actively involved in multiple state and national committees on Maternal Quality measurement including National Quality Forum, ACOG, AMA, The Joint Commission, CMS and the RAND Corporation.  Dr Main also co-chairs the national ACOG initiative for standardizing obstetric definitions called Revitalize and chairs the ACOG action program for reducing maternal mortality and severe morbidity.  In 2013 Dr Main received the ACOG Distinguished Service Award and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine Award for State and Local Leadership.

Dr Main is jointly appointed as Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco, and at Stanford University, School of Medicine.
