12th Cone Health NICU Conference: Improving Neurodevelopmental Outcomes for Our Most Vulnerable Patients

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

8:55 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. (Check-in 8:30 a.m.)

The Lusk Center, Greensboro, NC

2501 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405

The conference will focus on knowledge-based strategies to improve outcomes for those patients at highest risk for long-term neurologic complications. Extremely low birth weight infants are at the highest risk for intraventricular hemorrhage and the consequences of cystic encephalomalacia. Infants with perinatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy experience high rates of neurologic morbidities.

Simulations of resuscitation and stabilization of these patients will be presented. Methods to facilitate family-integrated care through an innovative NICU design thinking system-wide framework, along with technological advancements that support the changing clinical environment for NICU healthcare providers will be included. In addition, a parent panel will address patient and family adaptations to changing NICU care models inclusive to this knowledge-based activity.
