This Thursday afternoon, March 24th at 4PM we will meet via zoom to focus discussion on the recently published NRN Generic Database and Follow up report on hospital and 2 year outcomes of over 11,000 extremely preterm infants who were born at NRN centers 2013-2018. More than 10% of the cohort were babies born at the NC NRN sites, Duke, UNC, WakeMed and ECU-Vidant. The paper was published in JAMA (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35040888/). For perspective, two other papers will be presented. The NRN report published in NEJM in 2017 on improving outcomes among babies born 22 – 24 weeks (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28199816/) and a paper by Jaworski et al, reporting on parental perspectives on outcomes that they view as most important (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29705117/)
The papers will be presented by neonatology fellows from Duke, UNC and ECU-Vidant. We will be joined by Ed Bell, from U of Iowa, who is the lead author of the NRN JAMA paper, and Susan Hintz, from Stanford, who leads the NRN Follow-Up project, as well as the CPQCC. They’ll offer their perspectives on the papers, then we will open for discussion.
