The Atrium Health -Lincoln birthing center, New Beginnings, has large spacious rooms where mom remains for the length of her stay including labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum. CMC-Lincoln practices mother-baby couplet care so that the newborn can be cared for at mother’s bedside by the same nurse caring for the mother. Each room has a baby shaped sink for easier bathing of your baby with a heat lamp overhead to keep baby warm during the bath. Each room has a sleeper sofa for dad or other support person and a small refrigerator. There is a designated C-Section operating room directly down the hall from the unit. In addition to our newborn nursery, there’s also a level 2 nursery for babies requiring special care. A pediatric hospitalist is available to manage the care of these babies. Physicians, staff and expectant families work together to develop and implement a plan of care that meets the needs of each individual family unit.
