We can help address these challenges as well as the solid evidence for the strengths and resilience of adoptive families. The diagnosis of preeclampsia, a leading cause of maternal mortality in the US and worldwide, no longer requires the detection of high levels of protein in the urine (proteinuria), according to the new Task Force Report on Hypertension in Pregnancy by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (The College). A pregnancy is "full term" only in the narrower two-week window that starts at 39 weeks, under new definitions published in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology and endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
